Things to do over Easter at Nene Park

As well as our permanent features in the Park, there are a whole host of activities available for visitors of all ages during the Easter break.

We have a number of seasonal events over the holidays - grab a clipboard from the Visitor Centre and explore the Park with our Holiday Trail sheet, or help the Easter Bunny retrace his steps to find his missing Easter Eggs. Both events are for the whole family to enjoy and can be completed on multiple dates throughout April.

There are many other events and courses that you can get involved in too - from sailing and windsurfing courses at Nene Outdoors, Lakeside, to Nature Tots and Wild Wednesday for the kids. Further details and the chance to book a place on all of our events can be found by clicking on this link >>

In addition to our great events, here is a list of a few of the many things you can do whilst visiting us over the Easter period.

Play 'Spot the Bluebells' - the first bluebells of the year have been sighted in Bluebell Woods. Why not take a walk through the woods and see how many you can find? By May, there should a beautiful blanket covering the woodland floor.

Take to the water - whether you fancy a relaxing paddle around the lake on a swan pedalo or would like to try your hand at kayaking, Gunwade Lake has plenty of space to allow visitors to have a go at all kinds of watersports activities. Visit the Nene Outdoors web page for the full list of offers.

Get active - there are a number of routes around the whole of Nene Park to cycle, walk, run, skate and any other method you can think of! Outside of Ferry Meadows, there are some lovely walks out to Castor and Ailsworth, or head towards Peterborough City Centre via Orton Mere and Thorpe Meadows. The Visitor Centre can provide you with plenty of information on surrounding area.

Keep your eyes peeled for real Easter bunnies - spring brings a lot of nature to the Park. In addition to seasonal birds, insects and others, fluffy bunnies will start popping up around the Park. They move quickly so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!

Go for a family meal - there is a great selection of hot and cold food available in the cafes within Ferry Meadows. Within the vicinity of Nene Park, there are a number of restaurants that are within walking distance of our attractions. These include The Boathouse, The Granary, The Ramblewood Inn and many more. See our latest edition of Parklife for listings.

Tee off - up the road from Ferry Meadows is Orton Meadows, home to a range of golfing options for all skill levels. A golf course can also be found at Thorpe Meadows with similar facilities, all of which make a great day out for groups or single users.

Whatever you decide to do, we hope you have a wonderful time over the Easter period. We are keeping our fingers crossed for good weather, we just hope it's not too hot to melt those Easter eggs. If you require any further information about what to do in the Park, we would love to hear from you on 01733 234193 or you can email us at visitor.services@neneparktrust.org.uk
