Help Nene Park score a hat trick

Following a busy summer with record numbers of people visiting the Park for the sixth year running, Nene Park Trust (the charity that manages Nene Park) is delighted to announce not one, but two awards for the Park and we are currently campaigning to achieve a third.

On a very busy August day, Ferry Meadows at Nene Park was visited by an assessor from Visit England. The assessor commended the team on continuously improving the visitor experience, with scores significantly increasing from 81% in 2016 to an amazing 87% in 2017. This score means that Ferry Meadows is being considered for the prestigious Visit England Gold Accolade. The final decision will be made towards the end of the year.

The assessor said the strengths of her visit and the overall visitor experience included:

- Relaxing at the very impressive Lakeside Kitchen & Bar whilst drinking coffee in the sunshine and watching families sailing on the lake

- Being entertained and informed by Captain Bob on the short boat trip

- Admiring the colourful planting around both main car parks which was attracting plenty of wildlife

- Being able to get away from the crowds to explore the wider park when following the Ham Mere trail

-Browsing the excellent product range which is now available in the Information Centre and Gift Shop

We are also delighted that Badger Play area has won a National BALI Landscape Award this year. This is a great achievement and follows on from the Otter Playground award in 2015 and winning the BALI 'Client of the Year' in 2016. The Awards Ceremony will be held on 1 December and we are hoping that Badger Play area will receive the hotly contested Principal Award.

We are so excited that Nene Park has been nominated for the national Fields in Trust, UK's Best Park Award. We would be delighted if members of the community who have visited the Park and value it as one of the best greenspaces in the UK could vote for the Park. We are humbled that Nene Park was nominated for the award by a visitor who has been enjoying the Park for over 30 years. You have until Friday 3 November to vote and we would appreciate as many votes as possible.

Please visit the news section on www.neneparktrust.org.uk or www.fieldsintrust.org/bestpark/eastofengland to vote and help us to complete a trio of celebrations this year.
