Bird in Flight

You may have seen whilst walking around the Park, a brand new addition to our sculpture collection. Created by Bob Dawson, the bird stands tall on the edge of Overton Lake, providing a beautiful vantage point across Ferry Meadows.

Bob Dawson has also over the years been commissioned to complete various commissions which includes 'Bird in Flight.'  Another of his more recent works can be found in Leicestershire at Bagworth Heath Woods.

Vivacity, who are leading this project, will be unveiling the bird officially on Tuesday 30 May. The 'Bird in Flight' is made from sheet metal and represents the wild life of the Fens which surrounds Peterborough.

The sculpture features along one of the main cycle routes through the Park. The Peterborough Millennium Green Wheel is a continuous network of cycleways, footpaths and bridleways that provide safe, continuous routes around the city, through picturesque stone villages, the Fens and the scenic Nene valley.

Following the official launch, we will be back with more information about the project. We hope you will head over to the Park soon to take in the view.
