Car Parking Update 30/10/2015

We are currently busy engaging with many of the groups who use the Park to collect their feedback on the introduction of daily charges at Ferry Meadows and Orton Meadows (Orton Meadows is the car park just off Oundle Road by the Pitch & Putt).

A decision on the actual tariffs is yet to be made. However, we do know that it will be a tiered charging structure so different from the flat rate which has operated in the Park up until now.

Payments will be by the half hour rather than by the hour. So, for example, if you were to stay 1 hr 20mins you would only be charged for 1hr 30mins rather than for 2hrs.

There will also be a "grace period" which means that if you were only in the Park for a very short dog walk or to drop somebody off / pick somebody up there would be no charge. The length of this "grace period" is yet to be decided.

An annual ticket will be available and be valid for 12 months from the day you buy the ticket. This is different from the current season ticket which lasted for the charging period from March to October. The cost of the annual ticket is likely to work out at approximately £1.20 per week.

The system to be introduced will be a number plate recognition system. Before you leave the Park you key in your number plate to the machine and it will tell you how much you owe.

This system was chosen in preference to a pay and display system as you do not need to worry about your ticket running out and risk a fine or a ticket. Even if you forget your cash or credit card you will still be able to pay online after leaving the Park.

Please keep an eye on our website for future updates over the coming months.
