Explore Roman Peterborough

You can explore Roman Peterborough by following three guided walks. A guide book is available at the Visitor Centre in Ferry Meadows and is priced at only £1.

Walk 1 takes you through Castor village, part of Nene Park's rural estate and Water Newton village. On the way you'll discover the sites of Roman Villas and the Roman town of Durobrivae

Walk 2 starts at the Visitor Centre in Ferry Meadows and on to Roman Point, site of a Roman farmstead, and then to the site of a Roman Fortress where the Ninth Legion were stationed .

Walk 3 is at Flag Fen, where you can find the original road of a Roman Road.

The walks in the guide book link a series of interpretation panels and markers along the routes. Both the leaflets and the panels provide a wealth of information about the Romans in Peterborough.   By visiting Peterborough museum you'll also be able to see many of the artefacts which were discovered at the sites.
