Nene Park Volunteers

Last Wednesday saw the volunteers tackling a variety of tasks. We started off in the morning clearing around the tree bases of the saplings which we planted back in February in Long Meadow. By clearing around the saplings they will receive more light, helping them to establish.

In the afternoon the we tidied up a hedge by Heron Hide in Ham Mere and cleared in front of the hide to improve the view of the scrapes.

After a tea break the group moved on to Ham Lane. Earlier this year the Ranger team had planted a new hedge which the volunteers had then mulched. The task now was to remove encroaching vegetation from around the saplings.

I'm sure all you readers will join me in thanking the Nene Park Volunteers for the
time and energy they dediacte to helping make Nene Park a great place to visit.
