Ferry Meadows Play Trail

Ferry Meadows Country Park is all set for the first installation of new play equipment this September. As part of the preparation work, school pupils from St Botolphs Church of England Primary School, Nene Park volunteers, members of the Nene Park Access Forum and Nene Park Trust staff have engaged in a series of workshops designing the future of play in Ferry Meadows.

Touch Wood Enterprises Limited, along with Davies White Landscape Architects, have been commissioned to design and build exciting play experiences in Ferry Meadows over the coming over three years. During early July, 'pop-up' play has been installed close to the Visitor Centre. This temporary play installation includes a water cascade, a hollow log to clamber through, a human sundial as well as cluster seating made from boulders and logs- all of which will later feature in new permanent play areas in the park.

The pop-up play area is designed to generate interest in the three year play project. In September, installation will commence on the first of the play areas closest to the Visitor Centre and Ferry Meadows Café. The play equipment is made from natural materials and will blend in to the Park environment. It will include willow walk ways and cob walls as well as lots of areas and equipment on which to swing, scramble and slide.
