Nene Park Trust launches student placement scheme

Nene Park Trust is launching a Student Volunteer Placement scheme which it is hoped will allow many students who are interested in a career in the parks sector an opportunity to gain valuable work experience.

Successful applicants to the scheme will spend a week working with Nene Park Trust staff as they carryout daily maintenance tasks as well as working on some longer term projects. Education Officer Anna Thompson explains, "Our rangers are a very visible presence as they carry out work in the Park and the Trust often receives requests for work experience opportunities with the Ranger team. However, many students may be unaware of the wider staff network involved in operating a Park like Ferry Meadows and the possible career opportunities available. With this placement we plan to give students a taste of the many different careers which are open to them in the Park's sector, as well as providing them with a chance to gain work experience which will prove invaluable when they apply for further training or their first jobs in the sector."

The Student Volunteer Placement scheme is open to students who are aged 16-18 and who can demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the park's sector. Students who are interested in applying can click here for more information or phone Anna Thompson on 01733 234193 for an informal chat.
