Park Rules
Codes of conduct
Approximately 1million visitors use Nene Park every year.
To ensure that every visitor has a safe and enjoyable time and to
protect the special interests of the site, we would appreciate the
help and cooperation of all visitors.
Rangers and other staff will be pleased to help you and to answer any questions you may have. Please follow their advice.
In an emergency outside office hours the duty Ranger can be contacted on 07860 308081.
Countryside Code
For your own and others safe and enjoyable use of the
countryside, please follow the Countryside Code.
- Be safe - plan ahead and follow any signs
- Leave gates and property as you find them
- Protect plants and animals and take your litter home
- Keep dogs under close control
- Consider other people
Cycling
- Only ride on the designated routes.
- Please be aware of other Park users and adjust your speed
accordingly.
- We advise the wearing of safety helmets at all times.
- Please do not ride your bike on the pavements around the Visitor
Centre.
- Use a bell to warn other Park users of your approach.
Dog Walkers
- Please keep your dog under close control at all
times.
- Please clean up after your dog and use the bins provided.
- Do not leave your dog unattended in a vehicle on hot days.
- Please be aware that allowing your dog to be out of control in
a
field containing livestock is an offence.
Horses
- Only ride on the designated routes.
- Please be aware of other Park users.

Litter and Recycling
Please take all your litter home. Recycle as much of it as
you can.
Remember that litter can cause injury to people and wildlife and
can also increase the risk of fire.
If you have to leave it behind then please use the litter bins provided.
Picnics & Barbecues
- Please take all your litter home.
- Permanent Barbecue stands are available on a first come
basis.
- You can use your own Barbecue providing they are on a stand
- Disposable barbecues must not be used unless placed on an
insulating
surface.
- Barbecues must be sited a safe distance from buildings &
vegetation.
- Please do not obstruct footpaths or other routes.
- Have some means of extinguishing a fire close at hand, especially
during dry
periods.
- Never leave Barbecues unattended, extinguish all fires before
leaving.
- Please do not put hot ashes into litter bins or empty onto the
ground.
Water Safety
The lakes and river are deep and the water is
untreated.
Inflatable craft are not permitted on any of the lakes.
DO NOT SWIM OR PADDLE - it is dangerous.
In winter keep off the ice.
Lifebuoys are located around the lakes. They are there for emergency use only; please don't interfere with them they are for your safety.
