About Us
Environmental Policy
Background
Nene Park Trust is a registered charity, and its work continues to be based on the original aim: 'To provide for the recreation of the public by the provision of a park for the benefit of the inhabitants of Peterborough and visitors with the object of improving the conditions of life for such persons'.
The Trust recognises that all organisations impact on the environment in a variety of different ways. As such we are committed to the continual improvement of our environmental performance in relation to our services and operations, and contributing towards Peterborough's Environment Capital aspirations. To help achieve this, the Trust is working towards Investors in the Environment accreditation.
Key Impacts
We have identified the following key environmental impacts associated with the management of Nene Park:
- consumption of energy, water and materials
- waste disposal
- land management for biodiversity
Key Objectives
We are committed to working with our staff, customers, suppliers, contractors and partners to achieve the following objectives, without entailing unreasonable additional cost:
- meet and, where appropriate, exceed all relevant environmental
regulations
- systematically assess all aspects of our operations, including
life-cycle and
carbon footprint analysis
- reduce our consumption of energy, water and raw materials
- purchase environmentally-friendly products where
appropriate
- reduce, reuse and recycle waste
- manage the landscape to maximise biodiversity
- reduce pollution both locally and in the wider environment
- preferentially use suppliers who themselves have an environment
policy
- produce an Environmental Action Plan with targets for measurable
annual
improvements
This environmental policy will be reviewed annually as part of the environmental action plan.
The introduction and implementation of this policy is a commitment of Nene Park Trust management and a shared responsibility with our employees to fully support this policy through active participation and co-operation. We intend to make our progress available for independent assessment.
